Attack of the baby boomers

Context

The baby boomers are all about to retire. The first of the batch are now doing so. They are all cashed up and will be looking for leisure and lifestyle services and products. If you had something in mind for this segment then now would be a good time to get the ball rolling. I’m not sure if recreation centres, holidays and retirement homes are my cup of tea.

However, I can see a strong “mature but fun” brand emerging which could coordinate many of the social activities for retired baby boomers. The kids are off their hands and out of their hair. The mortgage has been paid. The pension or super is kicking in (maybe). They have time on their hands and want to indulge themselves.

Possibilities

Here are a few things off the top of my head:
  • Adventure holidays have taken off for the youthful and maybe something similar could be done for “the young at heart”.
  • Social clubs and events
  • Plastic surgeryNon-threatening health clubs


If you don't want to get involved in these I guess you could always invest in retirement villages :)
